ACCC MUST INTERVENE IN CLADDING DISASTER

MP Clifford Hayes has penned a letter to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, urging the body to intervene in Victoria's cladding disaster. In the letter, Mr Hayes cited similarities between the issues of non-compliant cladding and that of any other consumer issue - such as defective airbags.

Clifford said:

It is a double standard that while automotive companies were chastised over dodgy airbags; these developers are getting off the hook.

The Government should not be able to place the responsibility for rectification upon the residents.

The Sustainable Australia MP has been campaigning on the cladding issue for several months, meeting with heavyweights of the building industry and homeowners who have cladding on their buildings.
