After the win, Clifford said: 

Homes like Currajong house are the cultural, social and architectural history of Hawthorn and they need to be protected. I am extremely pleased that the Planning Minister has decided to intervene and I congratulate the 5000-plus people who signed a petition to protect it. The community took a stand to protect Currajong House, and the Government has listened.
